3. Pergolas. Vertical interest is an easy way to add flair to a deck. A pergola will do this while also adding architectural structure and coziness while still keeping an open, airy feel.
4. Planters. Taking the forethought to add in built in planters to a deck design adds a lot of class and elegance. Yes, we know people can just buy pots and stick them in whatever corner, but by having them built into the deck, it seamlessly incorporates into the overall design of the backyard.
