Upgrade Your Deck with One of Our Benches of Planters—How We Do It

When you build a deck onto your home, you want to make sure it stands out from your neighbors. Sierra Structures loves to design new and exciting decks to match our customers’ tastes. Because no two homes are the same, no deck is the same.
But, sometimes, it’s nice to have additional features that really make your deck shine and give it that extra special touch. One of those ways is to upgrade your deck with one of our benches of planters. Here’s how we do it.
For starters, there are several ways you add a planter. Whether it’s on top of a railing, on the outside of the railing, inside of the railing, or down the steps, it’s all up to you.
For ones on top of the railing, we add a support beam to balance the planter bench on top. It will be stained or painted to match the wood and provide the right space to add your greenery.
Outside of the rail, we will either mount it or hang it. This still allows you to water and maintain your plants from the deck’s surface while the plants don’t take up any surface space on the deck.
Inside the rail, they can be placed on the deck’s surface with benches in between for you and your guests to sit on.
One of our favorite design ideas is to mount them on the outside of the railing down the steps. This adds layered touches that provide a nice aesthetic view as you walk up your steps from the yard.
As for the plants themselves, that is your preference. Whether it’s seasonal flowers, ferns, or even vegetables, any plants will thrive there.
