We don’t care what some old groundhog up north has to say. In our minds, spring is coming to Raleigh any day, and we can’t wait. This is the time of year when people start thinking about outdoor living, and they may be looking to upgrade their deck furniture.

Here are a few tips to consider when buying deck furniture:

  1. How it will be used: Think about how the deck is used. While most decks are used for many purposes, think about how they’ll be used the most, whether it’s hosting dinner parties, curling up with a book, having a morning cup of coffee, big social gatherings, or whatever it may be. If dining is the main use, then having lots of lounge furniture won’t work.
  2. Size and scale: A lot of clients shop online for deck furniture and are often disappointed because they didn’t take the time to measure the furniture to see how it would fit on the deck. To make sure it works for your deck, try taping off the deck with painter’s tape according to the furniture specs. This is useful even when shopping in person since it’s difficult to picture how the furniture will fit on a deck when looking at it in a store.
  3. Style: A deck is an extended living space for a home, and should be furnished as such. Think about what materials, shapes, and colors would work best for the home’s architecture and style, and make sure that it’s showcased in the furniture and accessories chosen for the deck.

At Sierra Structures, we’ve been building decks for Triangle homes for years. We know what a difference it can make to a home. How it’s furnished and used just takes the deck to a whole new level. Talk to us and let us know how we can make your home deck dreams come true.
