It seems that many people in the Triangle area are dog lovers. Who can blame them? Having a dog as a family pet is pretty awesome. And having a fenced yard for that pup is even better.

Here are four reasons that dog owners should consider installing a fence in their yard:

  1. Safety: The main reason to have a fence when one has a dog is safety. No one wants their dog to wander away and get lost, get hit by traffic or get stolen. The barrier can also help keep a dog’s predators away while they play. A fence is a simple and easy way to keep dogs safe.
  2. Free play: Most municipalities in the area have leash laws which means that unless a dog is in a fenced area, they must be on a leash. This is no fun for a dog. A fenced yard will allow the pup the freedom to run, dig, roll around and play like a dog should.
  3. Liability issues: Even the best trained dogs can still possibly get aggressive or cause property damage. Keeping a dog in a fenced area reduces the chance that he’ll cause any harm.
  4. Easier for owners: Honestly, we’re all busy. We don’t always have time to take our pets on the long walks they need to stay healthy, or we may not be able to let the dog out exactly when he needs to go. Being able to open the door to the yard and know a pet will be safe can make life a little easier.

Having a family dog is a ton of fun, but it’s also a lot of responsibility. A backyard fence can help keep dogs safe, happy and healthy. If you have a dog or are thinking of getting one, it’s probably time to get a fence for your backyard. Contact Sierra Structures to get your fence started.
