Sierra Structures—Benefits of Planters
Posted June 13, 2022 to Before You Buy: Tips, Advice, Checklists.
At Sierra Structures, we have written quite a bit lately about planters and their growing popularity. Many homeowners are adding them to their backyards for both their appearance and functionality.
The Benefits To Having Planters
Protection: They protect your plants from damage. In addition to protecting them from being trampled by running kids and pets, hanging or mounting your plants (be they flowers, vegetables, or trees) can protect them from other animals, flooding, and other potential disasters.
More exposure to sunlight: They can get more sun. When you use planters, it can make it easier for your flowers to get exposed to more sunlight. Relocate them when possible—or strategically install your planters in an area that is going to receive the most light.
Less weeding: Plants on the ground are going to be much more susceptible to unwanted weeds than if they are inside a planter. When the flower pots are elevated off the ground, the soil is less likely to get contaminated with weeds.
Higher yields: Raised gardens generally produce more fruits and vegetables as a result of the better potting soil being used.
Accessibility: How much easier is it to water, pick, check soil, and maintain your plants when they are above ground? The answer is much easier.
Longer growing season: It’s not always the weather that determines a growing season for plants. Often, it’s the temperature of the soil. The soil in a planter will warm up much more quickly in the spring than ground soil will.
Increased resale value: Curb appeal is always important to resale values—even if it’s the backyard. When your home is landscaped in a unique and colorful way, it’s going to increase the value. Planters can do exactly that.
